Justin Weijgers is honoured to announce the sale of the personal wardrobe of Supermodel Karen Mulder. Karen Mulder is recognised globally as one of the most influential supermodels of the ‘90’s and has dominated the modeling industry. Justin Weijgers has selected iconic looks from Mulder’s wardrobe to be presented across an online sale taking place on the 10th of November 2024.

Spanning three decades, more than 500 lots will be offered across two sales, each of them representing a significant moment in Karen’s life and career, with the earliest look dating from Spring / Summer 1990. A free public exhibition showcasing Karen Mulder: The Personal Collection will take place at Justin Weijgers headquarters on Rue de L’Isly, Paris on 2 and 3 November (on appointment)

Karen Mulder is one of the most influential fashion models of all time. Beginning her career in the 1980s, Mulder has graced more than 700 magazine covers and has walked runways for countless ready-to-wear and haute couture shows worldwide.

Mulder entered the field of fashion modelling when it was on the cusp of change. By the early 1990s, the term supermodel – or model turned international celebrity – was widely used in direct reference to Mulder and a small group of peers. Fashion had become mass entertainment and Mulder was at the centre of this excitement, her talents being championed by leading designers such as Karl Lagerfeld, Gianni Versace, Valentino Garavani, Yves Saint Laurent and John Galliano. She became known for her superlative presence on the catwalk while her work with leading photographers created some of the era’s most memorable images. Simultaneously she moved beyond the world of fashion, acting in films, launching her own music career and becoming a champion of glamour.
